If you cannot pay your debt in full, you may request a payment plan with the Louisiana Office of Debt Recovery (ODR).

Payment plans allow eligible taxpayers to pay their debt over time instead of making one lump-sum payment.

Approval is not automatic. Every request is reviewed by ODR and must be approved before a payment plan becomes effective.

How to Request a Payment Plan

You can request a payment plan by completing the ODR Payment Plan Application available on the ODR website. To help process your request, be prepared to provide:

• Full name
• ODR Debtor Number or Agency Debt ID
• Last four digits of your Social Security Number
• Mailing address
• Telephone number
• Email address, optional but recommended for faster communication
• Total amount owed, if known
• Requested monthly payment amount

Minimum Monthly Payment

The minimum required monthly payment is:

5% of your outstanding balance or $25, whichever is greater.

Depending on the amount you owe, ODR may require a higher monthly payment.

What Happens After I Apply?

After ODR receives your application:

1. Your request is reviewed.
2. ODR determines whether you qualify.
3. If approved, you will receive your payment plan agreement, generally by electronic delivery if you authorized email communication.
4. You must make each payment on time and in full to remain in compliance.

Important Information

While your payment plan is active:

• You must continue making all scheduled payments.
• Missing payments may result in collection actions as allowed by law.
• State income tax refunds and other eligible state payments may still be applied to your outstanding debt until it is paid in full.

If Your Debt Includes OMV Fees

If your debt includes Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) fines or fees:

• An ODR payment plan does not remove a driver's license suspension or vehicle registration block.
• You must establish a separate OMV installment agreement, if eligible.
• Continue making payments until OMV confirms your balance has been satisfied.
