I received a letter from the Louisiana Office of Debt Recovery (ODR). What should I do?

If you received a letter from the Louisiana Office of Debt Recovery (ODR), it means a Louisiana state agency or other governmental entity has referred a delinquent debt to ODR for collection. ODR collects debts on behalf of participating agencies throughout Louisiana.

Before contacting us

Please have your letter available. It contains important information, including:

  • Your ODR Debtor Number
  • The name of the agency that referred the debt
  • The amount owed
  • Contact information for your account

Make a payment

You can make a payment:

Include your payment voucher or ODR Debtor Number with mailed payments. Louisiana Department of Revenue

Need to dispute the debt?

If you believe the debt is incorrect or has already been paid, you may submit a dispute.

Driver's License Insurance Flags (OMV)

If your letter concerns an insurance flag on your driver's license, contact the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) directly.

ODR cannot remove OMV insurance flags.

All Other Debts

For all other debts, submit supporting documentation to ODR.

Need to Update Your Mailing Address?

If you are mailing a payment, write your new mailing address on the payment voucher. If you are not mailing a payment, you may request an address update by email. For your protection, do not include your Social Security Number or other confidential information in an email.

Who do I actually owe?

The letter identifies the agency or governmental entity that referred your debt to ODR. ODR collects the debt on behalf of that agency.

Can ODR explain my debt?

Yes. An ODR representative can explain the balance, identify the referring agency, discuss payment options, and explain the dispute process.

Will a payment plan remove an OMV driver's license suspension?

No. An ODR payment plan does not remove an OMV driver's license suspension or registration block. If your debt is related to OMV, you must contact OMV to establish the appropriate payment arrangement.

I already paid the debt. What should I do?

If you have already paid the debt, submit proof of payment along with your ODR Debtor Number for review.
